Special Project grant rules

Grant proposals of up to $5,000 will be accepted for projects which significantly advance and influence student learning. All requests for funding must conform to the grant guidelines and submission instructions to be considered. Failure to complete any of the required information will result in the rejection of the proposal. Grants are judged on a competitive basis and may be only partially or not funded at all.

Requirements:

  • There are no restrictions on subject matter or area of curriculum for this grant.

  • This grant is eligible to public school teachers, grades K-12.

  • A detailed project budget will be required at the time of application. Funds must be used on the proposed items and must be used within nine months of approval, or the funds will revert back to the grantmaker.

  • Grant recipients should include Colibri Grants in any publicity regarding their grant.

  • Grant recipients will be expected to announce their grant to the parents of participating students, the school faculty, and any school publication.

  • Teachers are encouraged to send pictures of the project in use by the students as well as copies of any publicity involving the project and related activities.

  • This program will consider one application per teacher and no more than two teachers per school.

  • Funds will not be considered for the following:

    • Textbooks for school-wide use

    • Technology equipment - PCs, printers, scanners, tablets, Chromebooks

    • A/V Equipment - recording equipment, cameras

    • Registration fees

    • Travel, t-shirts, or promotional materials

    • Admission fees

    • Field trip scholarships

    • Classroom furniture/fixtures

  • A grant summary report must be submitted by the end of the issuing school year. Grant fund expenditures are the responsibility of the grant winner, and an itemized list of expenditures must be included in the final grant report.

  • Grant applications must be submitted online.
